History of China Agricultural University China Agricultural University (CAU) was established in 1905 and named Imperial Agricultural University. The university’s origins can be traced back to 1905 when the Agricultural College was founded at the former Jingshi Da Xuetang. In September 1949, Beijing Agricultural University (BAU) was formed through the merger of Peking University Agricultural College, Tsinghua University Agricultural College, and North China University Agricultural College.
